I read a little article all about electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). This therapy is used for very depressed patients that took antidepressents and they wound't work. A week or two after patients start getting this therapy, it starts working. Patients can then keep getting ECT or just try taking antidepressesnts again. When given ECT, patients are administered anethesia so they cannot feel anything. ECT is pretty much just a controlled seizure for 20 to 90 seconds. A very common side effect of ECT is short- term memory loss. ECT has improved a lot over the years and has gotten a lot more popular.
